Lotto Max winner says $50-million jackpot won’t change her Christmas plans

A woman north of Toronto says winning a $50-million OLG jackpot isn’t going to change her Christmas plans.

Thornhill resident Susan Flam says she’ll take a bit of time to decide what to do with the money she claimed Monday after winning the Dec. 21 Lotto Max draw.

Flam told reporters at the OLG’s prize centre in Toronto that she initially misread the scanner when checking her ticket and thought her prize was a relatively paltry $50,000.

But she says her husband quickly pointed out she was a few decimal points off.

Flam, who is in her 60s, says she intends to pitch in some money to the organizations she has helped fundraise for in the past.

She says she hasn’t yet told her five grandchildren about the windfall.
